Camping Le Rêve - Dordogne River

Activities around the campsite

Here are some examples of activities to do around the campsite. We have developed partnerships with local actors so that you can benefit from their knowledge or certain benefits. You can also consult the Explore the area menu which will give you information on the places of interest around us, villages, parks, caves …

Descent of the Dordogne River

The discovery of the Dordogne river is a must. It can be lowered in Gabare, replica of the traditional sailing boat of the 18th and 19th centuries. You embark for a loop of an hour from La Roque-Gageac, one of the French favorite villages. Quiet commented walk that allows you to take a break in the day between visiting Domme, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and discover the castle of Castelnaud for example!

The river can also be practiced by canoe (provided you know how to swim). Two very different choices are available to you: the classic descent or accompanied descent. No difficulty whatever the option chosen but a frame almost opposite when one is in summer!

Canoe trip accompanied by a professional river guide

You leave with our guide partner in groups of 4 to 15 people maximum, on a little frequented stretch of river, even in high summer period. Patrick will share his passion for the Dordogne river, he will explain the flora, take you to see the kingfishers, you will venture into dead arms accessible only by canoe and Patrick will even do some magic! Quiet walk over a half to a day, with no specific skills and with the assurance of coming back enthusiastic! I do not tell you more and let you discover …

Canoe descent without accompaniment

If you prefer, you can also go down the Dordogne from Grolejac for example, with our partner Philippe from Canoë sans frontières. In this case, we recommend the castles circuit which allows to see no less than 7 castles to Beynac. There too you go for the day and you go down at your pace, calmly with stops to swim or doing a little more effort, upon your choice. Do not look for rapids, there are none on the river, the course is accessible to all. A little phone call ½ hour before arrival and we will pick you up back to your car. The little extra, Philippe also makes walnut oil and hazelnut oil, take the opportunity to taste them!

Bike and mountain bike tours

Although there is no mountain, the landscape is structured by valleys, sinkholes and hills (called ‘pechs’ here). This brings a great variety of reliefs that generate a great ecological diversity. The result is beautiful landscapes that can be traveled through many referenced trails!

Electric bicycles

Do not be discouraged by the ‘pechs’ that punctuate the territory and turn this difficulty into an opportunity to experience the electric bike. Very nice way to discover a wider perimeter, adjusting the efforts to your physical shape and rhythm. You will find all the details in the news that we made on the subject: News electric bike

Mountain bikes

For the more adventurous, there are also mountain bike trails.

Marked trails of the Lot
